Africa Solo

Orkidstudio is a humanitarian design organisation whose focus is to benefit children and communities worldwide through innovative architecture and construction. We believe that creativity has the power to inspire and instil pride within people and our aim is to explore the potential of architecture as a tool for relieving poverty, transforming lives, and promoting sustainable urban and social development.

In 2007/8 Mark Beaumont smashed the World Record for the fastest cycling circumnavigation of the world by over 80 days, covering 18,296 miles in 194 days and 17 hours. He then became the first to pedal the length of the America’s, also climbing the highest mountains in the Western world en route and in the same season. Now he plans to finish this world-pedalling hat trick in the heartland of adventure... Africa.

Supporting Mark’s World Record attempt today will help change lives across Africa at the same time. Since 2010, Mark has been our Patron and has shown us a huge amount of ongoing support. Through his efforts, Africa Solo has already generated over £30,000 of funding which will go directly towards our projects.
